THIS was the hilarious moment a female mannequin toppled onto a IndyCar track – startling fans as spooked drivers tried to dodge her.
But unlucky "Georgina" lost part of a limb after plummeting from the pedestrian bridge in Alabama.
A mannequin called 'Georgina' fell from the pedestrian bridge on to the grass at the side of the track in Alabama[/caption]"That lady hanging from the bridge fell!" a concerned Santino Ferrucci told his team, A.J. Foyt Racing, over the radio.
Ferrucci, 25, was in fourth place at Barber Motorsports Park when the dummy plunged mid-race at Sunday's IndyCar event.
But team president Larry Foyt just laughed and replied: "Just keep doing what you're doing."
Motorsport described it as a race full of action, featuring a "mad" moment that caught everyone off-guard.
"Georgina" had been installed by eccentric track owner George Barber in 2016.
"She came loose on lap 52 hitting the deck feet first before pitching face first onto the side of the track," said motoring website Top Gear.
"There's been an accident of a different kind," said one concerned TV commentator.
"Not a real person, we should point out right away.
"This is part of the eccentric part that populates Barber Motorsports Park – question is, is this enough to warrant a yellow (flag)?" they added on NTT IndyCar series.
HAND CHOPPED OFF
Luca Ghiotto, who was making his first IndyCar appearance for Dale Coyne Racing, was the first driver to hit the doll.
His car chopped off a fiberglass and plastic hand.
Safety crews finally removed Georgina from the track after the stricken doll had been lying there for three laps.
"Had to meet the ol'girl even though she nearly ruined my race," Scott McLaughlin later wrote on X, formerly Twitter.
He laughed off the bizarre incident, and even posed with Georgina – with her hacked-off wrist raised in the air – for social media pics after the event.
The New Zealander captured his fifth career IndyCar victory on Sunday by winning his second consecutive Alabama Indy Grand Prix.
McLaughlin also shared a photo of an opened can of Banquet beer while joking: "Pouring one out for Georgina."
"I do love that part of this. It's unique. It's just a fun track. Yeah, if I lost to that, to a lady that fell off.
"I won't say anymore. It was a mannequin. It wasn't a real person," he told reporters at the post-race presser.

Will Power, runner-up, told reporters he knew it was just a doll that had fallen on the 2.3-mile track.
"I saw the yellow (flag) comes out and there's a lady lying on the side.
"I'm like, 'You're kidding me, who let her down?' There's a yellow for that lady.'
MUMMY
"That would have been funny if it came in someone's cockpit, 'There's a lady attacking me!' said the Team Penske star.
But, he said he hadn't been worried, as "I knew exactly what it was."
"It was a lady hanging there – they're going to have to seriously get some good cables," the driver recommended.
When told that Georgina had lost a hand in the incident, Power also said that maybe the doll should be "go in a glass case, preserve the body, mummify it!"
