Actor Tom Felton had the honor of lighting up New York City's iconic Empire State Building on Monday, Oct. 27, in celebration of his return to the Harry Potter universe. The 38-year-old is set to reprise his role of Draco Malfoy on Broadway for Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.
Felton posed for photos on top of the legendary building before being introduced by Empire State Building Vice President of Operations Tom Middleton and flipping the massive switch to light up the building. The lights will turn red, yellow, green, and blue to represent all four Hogwarts houses, before staying green to represent Slytherin — the house of Felton's iconic character.

Felton has shed his slicked-back blond tresses for a more mature short brown haircut since appearing in Harry Potter as a kid, and he also wore a graphic tee and gray blazer for the special occasion.
In June 2025, Felton announced his was reprising the role that made him famous for a 26-week run in the J.K. Rowling, Jack Thorne, and John Tiffany-written play.
"Being a part of the Harry Potter films has been one of the greatest honours of my life," he said in a statement when the news was first announced. "Joining this production will be a full-circle moment for me, because when I begin performances in Cursed Child this fall, I'll also be the exact age Draco is in the play. It's surreal to be stepping back into his shoes—and of course his iconic platinum blond hair—and I am thrilled to be able to see his story through and to share it with the greatest fan community in the world."
