J&D Brush has recalled about 357,000 hair curling irons due to a potential burn hazard.

J&D Brush recalled its Bio Ionic One-Inch-Long Barrel Curling Iron on Thursday, Oct. 23, because the barrel of the curling iron can snap, detach and pose a burn hazard. The recall affects about 357,000 products in addition to about 3,000 sold in Canada.

As of Oct. 23, 258 burn injuries had been reported because of the barrel detaching, including six minor burn injuries, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).

Here's what to know about the J&D Brush curling iron recall.

What curling irons were recalled?

The recall is for the J&D Brush Bio Ionic One-Inch-Long Barrel Curling Iron with model number LXT-CL-1.0 and a date code between July 2022 and December 2023, according to CPSC. The model number is located on the handle of the curling iron. The date code is engraved on the plug prongs.

The recalled curling iron weighs about 15 ounces and measures 15.8 inches long, 2.87 inches high and 1.65 inches wide, according to CPSC.

The curling iron has a black handle and barrel, a blue "BIOIONIC" logo and a black label with operating instructions.

The recalled curling irons were sold in-person at Salon Centric, Ulta, Sephora, Nordstrom and local salons and beauty stores, as well as online at Amazon and BioIonic.com between August 2022 and July 2024 for about $165, according to CPSC.

What to do if you have a recalled curling iron

Consumers who own the recalled curling iron should immediately stop using it, unplug it and contact Bio Ionic to register for a free replacement, according to CPSC. Consumers will be asked to cut the curling iron's plug off and return the plug using a prepaid shipping label.
