Stylist and fashion editor Melanie Ward has died after a cancer diagnosis
Friend and collaborator Kate Moss remembered Ward on Instagram, writing, "From the very beginning until eternity"

Kate Moss is remembering her friend and collaborator, British stylist Melanie Ward, who died after a "brave battle with cancer."
Ward's death was announced via Instagram on Wednesday, Oct. 22. "It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our lovely Melanie after a brave battle with cancer. A visionary, radiant, full of light and love," the post read.
Hours after, Moss, who'd worked with the stylist and fashion editor in the '90s, paid tribute with a photo of the two embracing to the official account of the Kate Moss Agency. The image was captioned with, "Darling Mel, From the very beginning until eternity. With love forever, Kate."

Many celebrities, including editors, designers and models, commented on the news of Ward's death. "I'm so saddened to hear this news. What a lovely human we've lost," wrote Christy Turlington, with Linda Evangelista adding, "My condolences to all who knew her. Heartbreaking. Rest in peace sweet Melanie."
Helena Christensen wrote, "She was so lovely and talented."
Actresses Julianne Moore, Selma Blair and Gwendoline Christie also reacted in addition to designer Donatella Versace, who wrote, "Dear Melanie, will forever treasure our moments together. Rest in Peace."

In a personal essay shared in the 2010 February issue of Dazed & Confused, Ward — who was also an editor for American Harper's Bazaar for almost two decades — wrote about working with Moss early in the model's career.
"I met [photographers] David Sims and Corinne Day and instantly clicked with them. It was very unglamorous – David and I would set up backdrops on the fire escapes of a London studio, and Corinne, Kate Moss and I would spend freezing afternoons on English beaches. The whole grunge thing was the polar opposite of what was going on in fashion," she wrote.

According to Perfect magazine, Ward styled Moss for her 1993 Calvin Klein shoot as well as the Spring/Summer 1997 Helmut Lang show. Ward was the designer's muse and collaborator throughout the 90s and 2000s, according to Dazed.
Ward studied at London University and received a Bachelor of Arts Honors degree in Politics and Languages. In her essay, she remembered sewing "sexy but often androgynous" clothes with her aunt's sewing machine while balancing her studies.
"A few years later, I was wearing one of my creations at a party in London when a woman who worked for L'Oreal came up and said, 'I love what you're wearing, where did you buy it?' I didn't even know what styling was, and there she was offering me £300 to do it!" Ward wrote.
