The Cleveland Browns may have made a change at quarterback ahead of Week 5, but fans shouldn't expect to see Shedeur Sanders playing in London.
After an 0-4 start to the 2025 season, the Browns have benched veteran quarterback Joe Flacco. In his place, rookie quarterback Dillon Gabriel will make his first career start in Cleveland's Week 5 clash with the Minnesota Vikings in London.
Head coach Kevin Stefanski's decision to start Gabriel over Sanders is not out of line with how he's handled the quarterbacks room in Cleveland all year. Since the end of training camp, Gabriel has been the team's backup quarterback with Sanders serving as the emergency third quarterback in all four games.
Gabriel was not as highly touted as Sanders, whom many analysts expected to be a first-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft class. But the Browns selected the Oregon product in the third round earlier this year – a full two rounds and 50 picks before drafting Sanders.

Is Shedeur Sanders playing today?
Sanders is set to be the Browns' emergency third quarterback for a fifth straight week. With Gabriel taking over the starting duties, Flacco has been relegated to the backup role behind him.
Sanders remains the team's third option and will dress for the game against the Vikings in London, but he'd only play if both Gabriel and Flacco were injured.

Gabriel was the less-heralded rookie quarterback of the two young players the Browns selected in the 2025 NFL Draft. The third-rounder out of Oregon is in line to make his first career start in London. He's appeared in two of Cleveland's first four games this year in late-game blowout situations to relieve Flacco.
Flacco, the 40-year-old, 18-year veteran, returned to Cleveland as a free agent in the offseason. He had been the team's starter for the first four weeks of the season before the Browns decided to make a change for Week 5.
Sanders was a Browns fifth-round pick this year after a dramatic slide in the draft – a draft in which analysts largely projected Sanders to be a first-round pick. The rookie son of Pro Football Hall of Famer Deion Sanders has only served as a third-string for Cleveland so far this season.
