Up until a few years ago, 'hazing' horror stories coming out of US colleges were something British parents only ever read about in utter dismay. But according to students at UK universities, the extreme culture of abusive (and often life-threatening) initiation rituals has well and truly made it across the Atlantic. Earlier this week, the Mail reported how British teens wishing to join sports societies have been made to eat live goldfish and tins of dog food by older peers after already consuming potentially lethal amounts of alcohol.
