Tempers flared almost immediately at Coors Field on Tuesday night.

The benches cleared and a pretty big brawl broke out in the middle of the infield during the opening inning of the Colorado Rockies' matchup with the San Francisco Giants on Tuesday after Rafael Devers hit a deep home run early.

The issue, though, appeared to stem from Devers' reaction to his two-run homer. Devers largely watched the home run leave the park before starting to run, which didn't sit well with Rockies starter Kyle Freeland. The two started chirping at each other before Devers even reached first base, and then things escalated pretty quickly. Punches were even thrown in the infield at one point as players from both teams rushed into the mess.

Officials eventually separated the two teams and got the game under control. Freeland was ejected, as were Giants players Matt Chapman and Willy Adames.

Devers' two-run home run ended up counting, too, even though he didn't actually round the bases before the fight broke out. He went back out and got to finish the run around the bases once things had settled down.

The Rockies entered Tuesday night's contest with just a 39-99 record, which is the worst in Major League Baseball. They are the only team in the league that has already been officially eliminated from postseason contention, too. The Giants, while sitting in third in the NL West standings, are just five games back from the final wild-card spot. They've won eight of their last nine before Tuesday's game in Denver, too.

This post will be with more information shortly.
