Elon Musk doesn't think he can reach his goal of cutting $2 trillion from the U.S. budget. The Tesla and SpaceX boss backtracked on Wednesday his previous projection of how much he could save the U.S. in his new role as co-head of Donald Trump's Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). Now, Musk says he thinks aiming for half that goal at $1 trillion would be more realistic – a big reversal from his vow just two months ago to save 'at least $2 trillion' during a speech at Trump's Madison Square Garden rally.
