Jerry Springer rose to prominence as the host of his controversial TV show in the '90s, but the late host had lived quite an interesting life before that. Born in London on Feb. 13, 1944, Springer and his family moved to the United States in 1949. He would later venture into law, then subsequently politics, becoming the mayor of Cincinnati in 1977. He ran for governor of Ohio in 1982 and turned to broadcasting after losing the campaign.
