After dating for five years, the pair tied the knot in 1968 in her parents' backyard in Connecticut when she was 20 and he was 22. The couple made the decision early on not to have children. "I really appreciate that other people do — and we will always have friends that have children that we are close to — but it was a choice I made very early," the Food Network host said during a 2017 episode of the Katie Couric Podcast.
