Originally airing from 1989 to 2001, the beachy drama followed a team of lifeguards in California (and eventually, Hawaii) through 11 seasons of unforgettable — and sometimes outlandish — plotlines, ranging from massive earthquakes and serial killers to encounters of the mermaid kind. At the center was David Hasselhoff, whose often shirtless time as the sand-and-surf sweetheart Mitch Buchannon continued to make him a pop culture icon.
