The ongoing tussle to claim the title of the world's richest woman once again shifted this week, when L'Oreal heiress Francoise Bettencourt Meyers leapfrogged Walmart scion Alice Walton. Reclusive Madame Bettencourt Meyers saw herself the top of the financial tree once more, reported Forbes, thanks to a surge in luxury stock in Europe, which propelled her estimated wealth to a staggering net worth of $93.1 billion (around £69.3million). Meanwhile, Walton has seen her inherited wealth dip a little in recent days, to a more modest $90.
