A pair of jurors turned into crime fighters this week when they took down a child abuser who escaped a courtroom in Maine after learning his fate. Nicholas Carter, 31, was found guilty of aggravated assault against a 14-month-old child on Wednesday at the Somerset County Superior Court in Skowhegan, the Waterville Morning Sentinel reported. When the jury returned their verdict after the three-day trial, the 5-foot-7, 150-pound Carter, who was handcuffed and dressed in suit and tie, fled the courthouse.
